academic1The following students have graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa.

  • Katherine Weeks of Hamilton graduated from Lafayette and earned a bachelor of arts in English/film and media studies (double major) with honors in film and media studies.
  • Katelyn Jones of Manlius graduated summa cum laude from Lafayette and earned a bachelor of arts in philosophy/psychology (double major) Psi Chi.

They were among 568 undergraduate students in the Class of 2016 awarded degrees during the College’s 181st Commencement.

The ceremony featured an address by William D. Adams, chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Lafayette’s grads, “products of the liberal arts and sciences, are the really lucky ones,” said Adams. “For you’ve had an education that will work across every part of your lives and that will continue to demonstrate its value over time.”

President Alison Byerly conferred degrees and gave farewell remarks to the class.

Pepper Prize Winner Guilherme Ferreira de Avila ’16 presented a sword once owned by the Marquis de Lafayette to fellow graduates as an invitation to seize the responsibilities that come with a Lafayette education.
