On July 19, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Herkimer 4-H Program held a canvas painting workshop. Nineteen 4-H members learned to paint a barn scene on canvas. Shanna from the Art Box in Canajoharie, led 4-H members in the step by step process, as they created their very own masterpiece!
The 4-H members were taught the many steps and layers involved in making the canvas come alive. They were encouraged to be creative and add their own style to their individual paintings. They learned about blending colors and stippling paint, while completing the work on canvas. Participants then took their completed painting home to display, give as a gift, or exhibit at the County Fair!
Participants were Jordynn Alesia, Ahna and Gami Brackett, Hailey and Hannah Carnright,Rebecca Elwood, Kaitlyn Fitch, Logan and Lucas Humphreville, Jessica Lindsey, Katie Livingston, Kassi March, Kendra and Rachel Shaver, Skye Sophia and Rose Simmons,Carolynn Reinhart, Brooklyn and Chloe Williams.
A huge thank you goes out to our presenter, Shanna from the Art Box of Canajoharie, for taking the time to teach the intricate art of creating a picture on canvas with paint.
