academicsWestern New England University congratulates more than 175 students who presented their Freshman Innovation Design Projects at the 2016 Emerging Engineers Expo at Western New England University.

Freshman Product Innovation projects allow students to gain experience and knowledge at an early stage of their education with innovation and design of a new product. It helps students to better understand what they can expect during the next few years as an Engineering student at Western New England University and gives them a chance to showcase their talents at the very beginning of their educational journey. Showcasing their work alongside the senior design projects gives first year students something to aspire to and allows them to gain invaluable knowledge from their peers.

U.S. News and World Report has named Western New England University to its “Best in Undergraduate Engineering” list, a category encompassing college and university engineering programs nationwide that focus primarily on undergraduate education.

The following projects were presented:

Samuel T. Caton, majoring in Engineering, from Earlville, presented “babyBeat – Baby Heart Rate Monitor”.

Trent W. Robinson, majoring in Electrical Engineering, from New Woodstock, presented “The Smart Shooter Tutor: A Device for the Development of Hockey Skills.”
