Defending two-time North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Champion Morrisville State College Mustang men’s soccer program announced its 2016 schedule, set to kick-off Friday, Sept. 2.
Morrisville State finished 14-5-2 overall in last year’s season campaign and claimed the program’s third trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament after defending their NEAC title for a second straight year.
The Mustangs will open the season with an appearance at the Doug May Memorial Soccer Classic held at RIT on Friday, Sept. 2, and Saturday, Sept. 3. Morrisville State will face Nazareth in the opening round on Friday, before taking on the hosts, RIT, Saturday.
Morrisville State will open their home schedule on Saturday, Sept. 10 for “Back to School Day” against conference rival SUNY Polytechnic before hitting the road for another conference stint against SUNY Cobleskill on the 11th.
The athletics department will be collecting school supplies on the 10th and again on the 17th for the local school district at the gate of the stadium facility.
The Mustangs return home for a three game slate on Drake Field starting Saturday the 17th against Lancaster Bible College. They host Penn State Berks on the 18th before taking on head coach Kyle Graves’ (67-34-13, six years) alma mater, Keuka College, on Saturday the 24th.
Morrisville State will be on the road for back-to-back conference contests on Oct. 1 and 2, traveling to the College of Saint Elizabeth and Penn College. They take on Penn State Abington on the 8th at home on Drake Field, and follow with Bryn Athyn on the 9th, before taking to the road for five straight, three within conference play.
Saturday, Oct. 15, the Mustangs will head to Washington, DC to face Gallaudet, and the following day will be at Wilson College.
On Tuesday the 18th, Morrisville State will take on defending SUNYAC Champion SUNY Oneonta, who made their second straight appearance in the NCAA Division III National Semifinals just a year ago, falling to eventual champion Amherst College in a shootout.
The Mustangs meet Route 20 rival Cazenovia College on the Wildcats home turf, Saturday the 22nd, before heading north on the 26th for another SUNYAC-NEAC showdown as they travel to SUNY Oswego.
Morrisville State wraps up their regular season on Drake Field on Oct. 29 in a rematch of last year’s NEAC final with Wells College. The Mustangs took down the Express in overtime on a converted penalty kick early in the extra frame.
