FANDEMICON, Utica’s Pop Culture Convention, to take place on Saturday, August 20 for a full-day of free, family-friendly, fandom fun!
FANDEMICON 2016 will take place on Saturday, August 20 from 10:00am until 5:00pm at the Utica Public Library! Last year, nearly 700 people attended the first FANDEMICON. This year, con-goers will see great presentations, take part in fun activities, and get a chance to buy cool items from vendors in the Exhibit Hall! Guest presenters include Chris Giarrusso, creator of G-Man; Charles Barnett III, comic book inker that has worked on titles for Marvel and DC; local puppeteers The Guild of Thespian Puppets; Starship Horizons Bridge Simulators and their interactive space flight simulator; members of Ithaca’s Wizard Weekend with a replica of the Weasley family’s Ford Anglia from the Harry Potter films; Imp-Probable Artists and their draconic photo booth; and upstate’s coolest DJ, DJ Silenze; and video game developer Vicarious Visions which publishes the Skylanders franchise!
In addition to great guests, there will be fun activities all day, geared to participants of all ages, including video and board gaming, craft activities, film screenings, and a Cosplay Contest! Local food trucks will be on-site during lunch hours. There will also be opportunities to win cool prizes, including a basket filled with awesome pop culture items.
