Lindsay BazanA local Canastota High School FBLA student, Lindsay Bazan, recently completed her mandatory Future Business Leaders of America State Officer Training in Greenwich held from July 17 through 22.

Lindsay will serve as the New York State FBLA State Vice President for District 7 for the 2016-17 year. Lindsay was appointed to this position last April in Rochester at the New York State FBLA Leadership Conference. During State Officer Training, Lindsay worked vigorously with the entire team of 14 officers from throughout New York State to accomplish their requirements for the week.

Together the officers worked on the New York State theme, charity, and program of work for the year. This year’s state theme will be “Suit Up, Step Up” and New York State FBLA voted to support the ALS Association as their state charity. During the week, the officers also gave speeches and presentations and attended leadership workshops on topics such as plan of action, business communications, accountability, public speaking and effective presentations, parliamentary procedure, and other leadership related topics. Lindsay will be responsible for coordinating fall and spring district meetings for over 200 District 7 chapter members.

Future Business Leaders of America is a non-profit nationwide high school organization. Students compete in various business- and technology-related competitions and learn all about business and leadership excellence. FBLA-PBL is a dynamic organization of young people preparing for success as leaders in our businesses, government, and communities.
