Herkimer County HealthNet held its annual Family Fun Day on Friday, Aug. 12, in Myer’s Park, Herkimer from 10:00am -12:00pm. During this event, many local companies were on hand to disseminate information on the services that they offer to our community members.
Some of the agencies included were Cornell Cooperative Extension of Herkimer County, Bassett Community Health Navigation, Healthy Families Herkimer County, Northeast Rebels Cheerleading, HARC, and many others.
This year the event added some new vendors including The Root Farm Inc. that sold locally grown vegetables and honey which they make at their farm.
“This is HCHN’s second year hosting this event and every year we’ve increased participation,” said Elyse Enea, program coordinator. “We make sure to have lots of fun activities for the kids to do, we like to promote health and wellness and staying active.” We have been very fortunate to have the support of many local businesses that give us the opportunity to hand items out for free, Campione Water Company supplied the bottled water, Stewart’s supplied the trail mix cups, and Chobani supplied greek yogurt, just to name a few.”
About 300 community members brought their families out where they could enjoy potato sack races, a tiger themed bounce house, face painting, caricature drawings and live music from Kiss Fm. To learn more about Herkimer County HealthNet call them at 867-1522 or visit http://www.herkimerhealthnet.com.
