Colgate hosted the 2016 Terry Slater Memorial Golf Tournament and Men’s Hockey Alumni Weekend on July 22-23, with 92 Raider hockey alumni and friends participating.

The weekend began Friday afternoon with the inaugural individual ball shotgun tournament, with 40 golfers taking part at Seven Oaks Golf Course. Congratulations to the foursome of Keith Tyburski (Colgate’s Head Golf Coach), Cody Herbert (Assistant Athletic Trainer), Mark Burton P’08 and Mike Rudnisky for taking the top group prize. Andrew Dickson ’93, Tyburski and Jeff Byer earned the top individual performances.

Saturday morning saw an excellent turnout for the alumni hockey game at Starr Rink, followed with a barbecue cookout hosted by Good Nature Brewing. A big thank you to Steve Chouinard, Colgate’s Assistant AD for Sports Performance and Director of Sports Medicine, for working the grill.

After lunch, the group received a full facility tour of the Class of 1965 Arena from Ann-Marie Guglieri, Colgate’s Senior Associate Athletics Director/Chief of Staff/Internal Operations-SWA.

The main event was Saturday afternoon’s scramble golf tournament at Seven Oaks. After a lengthy playoff, the group of Dick Prins ’80, Jon Marshall ’80, Steve Heath ’80 and Ebby Gerry ’81 prevailed with a winning score of 10 under par. A huge thank you goes to Ben Pasquith, Doug Speer and the entire Seven Oaks staff for an incredible weekend.

The 2017 edition of the Terry Slater Memorial Golf Tournament and Men’s Hockey Alumni Weekend is scheduled for July 21-22, 2017, at Seven Oaks Golf Course in Hamilton.
