The Cazenovia Public Library invites you to journey into the heart of the jungle on Friday, September 2nd, with two screenings of The Jungle Book (2016). This stunning live-action/CGI fantasy adventure film is based on Rudyard Kipling’s original collective works and is inspired by Walt Disney’s 1967 animated film of the same name. The movie will be shown on the Community Room “big-screen” at 3:15 pm and 7:00 pm.
This reimagined classic tells the story of Mowgli, an orphaned “man cub” adopted and raised by a pack of wolves in the remote jungle of India. Mowgli’s place within his wolf family and within the jungle itself is threatened when Shere Khan, a scarred and resentful Begal Tiger, promises to kill him. Fearing for the safety of his pack, Mowgli decides to flee the jungle. His guardian and mentor, the panther Bagheera, volunteers to guide the boy to safety in the “man village.” Mowgli embarks on a journey of self-discovery, filled with adventure, danger, and deception. Along the way he is ambushed by Shere Khan, hypnotized by a fearsome python, befriended by the free-spirited bear Baloo, and kidnapped by a giant ape seeking to harness the power of fire.
The film features an all-star voice cast, including Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson, Giancarlo Esposito, and Christopher Walken.
The Jungle Book is rated PG and runs 106 minutes. Free popcorn will be provided.
