The observance will be capped off with a community centennial celebration on Saturday, August 27 from 2-4 p.m. at the Cortlandville Fire Station, Tompkins St., Cortland.

Attendees will share memories by signing their names and writing messages on a commemorative display. The Red Cross is also compiling scrapbooks and an exhibition of historical Red Cross uniforms.

Light refreshments will be served, including a cake specially designed for the occasion.

The event is free and open to the public.
