thincubatorOn Thursday, August 18 and Friday, August 19, the Utica Municipal Housing Authority, Norstar Development USA, and other community partners will sponsor a Construction Career Fair to help local residents to learn about jobs and careers in the growing construction industry. Over the past year, the construction sector in New York State added 10,900 jobs, which was the fourth largest increase of any major industry sector in the state.

Why:   The Construction Career Fair is intended to connect local residents interested in construction employment and careers with local training programs and employers.  The Fair will also help the Utica Municipal Housing Authority HUD Section 3 Initiative to identify residents interested in construction training, apprenticeship programs, and employment related to the Roosevelt Residences Project.  The Roosevelt Residence Project will consist of the new construction of 50 affordable rental units in the City of Utica.

What: Construction Career Fair

When:  Thursday, August 18 – 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Friday, August 19 – 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Where:  Mohawk Valley Community College thINCubator, 326 Broad Street, Utica

Who:  Sponsored by the AmeriCorps Self-Sufficiency Housing Resource Center at the Utica Municipal Housing Authority Utica Municipal Housing Authority and Norstar Development USA, the fair is a collaborative effort of City of Utica, Norstar Building Corporation, Oneida County Workforce Development, Workforce Development Board, Mohawk Valley Community College, Central New York Labor Council, Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency, BOCES Consortium of Continuing Education, Rescue Mission of Utica, and On Point for College.
