MCCPaperLogoToday EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Kim Myers, who’s running to represent New York’s 22nd District in Congress.

“Kim Myers has spent her life working for women and families in Broome County,” said Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY’s List. “Kim’s 18 years serving on the Vestal school board and her experience as a small business owner demonstrate her commitment to her community. She understands the importance of ending gender discrimination in pay, investing in highway and rail projects for economic development in rural areas, and protecting women’s access to health care. The EMILY’s List community is proud to support her historic bid for Congress as the first woman to represent this vital swing district.”

A lifelong resident of Broome County, Kim Myers is an experienced public servant and community leader. Kim grew up helping grow the family sporting goods business her father founded, and after college returned to develop a children’s clothing department. Eventually, that branched off to become Kim’s own children’s clothing and educational toy store, Kids Korner Inc., in Binghamton, New York. Kim and her husband Tim live in Vestal, New York, where they have raised six children. A lifelong advocate for educational policies that give all students a fair shot, Kim served 18 years on Vestal’s school board, including eight years as its president. She was elected to her first term in the Broome County Legislature in 2014, and currently serves as minority leader. Kim is dedicated to increasing economic opportunity for women and families in Central New York and the Southern Tier.

Kim believes that all students deserve an opportunity to succeed, and she has worked tirelessly to strengthen public schools. When elected, she will be a powerful advocate for New York State students and schools. Kim is an experienced business leader, and she will fight for policies that help grow the economy and create jobs in Central New York and the Southern Tier. When faced with tough problems, Kim remembers the lesson her entrepreneur father taught her: “There is no such word as can’t!” When elected, Kim will bring this approach to Congress as she tackles the toughest problems facing New York State women and families.

EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, has raised over $400 million to support pro-choice Democratic women candidates – making it one of the most successful political organizations ever. We recruit and train candidates, support strong campaigns, research women’s issues, and turn out women voters. We’ve trained over 9,000 women to run and helped elect over 100 women to the House, 19 to the Senate, 11 governors, and over 700 to state and local office. Since its founding in 1985, almost one-third of the candidates EMILY’s List has helped elect to Congress have been women of color – including every single Latina, African American, and Asian American Democratic congresswoman currently serving.
