Labor Day

Monday

Oneida Public Library will be closed Monday, September 5, to celebrate Labor Day. The library will be open as usual on Tuesday, September 6, at 9:00 a.m.

Tech Help

Wednesday, 9:00-11:00 a.m.

Volunteer technical advisors will be on hand to help device and laptop users set up, adapt and get the most out of their devices. No appointment is needed.

AARP’S Driver Safety Program

Monday and Tuesday, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

An AARP-trained instructor offers a two-day classroom defensive driver course for potential discounts in care insurance. To register, call Bob Fish at 363-0455.

Children up to 2 years old with their parents or guardians will enjoy rhymes, songs, fingerplay, crafts and stories in an early-literacy program.

Bill Skinner, a certified Hatha Yoga instructor, conducts a weekly class for seniors wanting to learn safe and beneficial yoga practices. Skinner will adapt postures and breathing exercises to fit the class members’ needs. The class is free. Pre-registration is advised.

Puppy Dog Tales

Thursday at 10 a.m.

Children aged 3-4 years with their parents or guardians can join their small furry friends from Wanderers’ Rest Humane Society for stories, songs, crafts and activities to boost pre-reading skills.

Citizen Preparedness Class with CPR Training

Monday at 4:00 p.m.

Trainers from the Red Cross will show high-school students and adults how to prepare for, respond to and recover from natural, man-made and technological disasters. The class includes training on hands-on only CPR.

Library Friends’ Fall Book Sale

Friday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Friends of the Oneida Public Library will be offering at bargain prices the best of donated books, from current bestsellers to rare finds. Of special note is a collection of American history books. This year’s Fall Book Sale is being held in the OPL’s Meeting Room, 220 Broad St. in Oneida. All proceeds benefit the OPL.

Voter Registration Day

Friday , 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Come November 8 potential voters will want to have their voices heard. During the Friends’ Book Sale, the OPL hosts workers at the Madison County Board of Elections who will register new voters on site.

 

October 1
