The ongoing telephone problems in Madison County were complicated further by a fiber cable break yesterday. At approximately 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, a state Department of Transportation mowing crew struck a Verizon fiber cable box along Route 46 in Stockbridge, seven miles south of Oneida.
Repairs were expected yesterday afternoon.
This is apparently unrelated to the larger outages that affect several towns in southern Madison County.
Cellular service also seems to be affected in certain areas. People are asked to check on family, friends and neighbors whom they know to be affected. The areas affected include Hamilton, Brookfield, DeRuyter, Earlville, Morrisville, Georgetown and Madison.
