state-police-seal-150x150Oneida-based state police charged a Clinton woman with DWI following a traffic stop in the Town of Verona Monday evening.

At approximately 8:53 p.m. Aug. 22, Trooper Steven Fountain was travelling eastbound along Snyder Road in Verona when he observed a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu ahead of him swerving onto the grass along the south shoulder, then return to the driving lane. The car turned onto Beacon Light Road and swerved across the double solid center line of the road. Fountain stopped the Malibu and interviewed the driver, Donna M. O’Neil, 53, of Clinton.

Trooper Fountain observed that O’Neil had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and sobriety tests indicated that she was intoxicated. O’Neil was taken into custody for DWI and transported to the SP Oneida barracks, where a breath test determined that her blood alcohol content was .14 percent.

O’Neil was ticketed for DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 percent or greater, failure to keep right and other traffic offenses; she is scheduled to appear in Verona Town Court Aug. 30.
