Mayor McVaugh shared good news, with the Hamilton Fire Department achieving the highest rating from the Insurance Services Office (ISO). Congratulations to the Hamilton Fire Department for their diligence and professional service to our community.
Highway Superintendent Glazier reported that Hamilton has jointly purchased a paver for roadwork. Sharing the cost on this equipment with 4 other towns–DeRuyter, Lincoln, Fenner, and Eaton–will save money on road maintenance for all involved. In addition to Town work on our roads, the County has been working on Hamilton Street, with road cuts made in preparation for improved drainage.
A representative from Senator Hanna’s office will be on hand in the Town Office on Tuesday, September 20th from 11am – 12pm. Stop in to say hello or share any concerns.
Prof. Henke, co-chair of the Climate Action Working Group, presented details on the Climate Smart Communities program offered by New York State. The Town Council is studying the plan and at the September meeting will consider a draft resolution to participate in the program.
Expect a mailing in September, a reminder to save the date for the public hearing on the revised Town of Hamilton Comprehensive Plan. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hamilton Public Library Community Room. Visit the Town website for more information and to view the Revised Comprehensive Plan. Hard copies of the plan can be obtained through the Town Office. http://www.townofhamiltonny.org
The Town Office will be moving to temporary location while work on the new office continues. Our old home on Broad Street has a new tenant waiting in the wings, so we will be working from 40 Milford Street while the renovations at our future home at 38 Milford Street continue. Renting right next door to the new location will save money and allow us oversight as the project moves forward. Look for an upcoming announcement of the date of our September move.
The Hamilton Town Council meets on the second Thursday of the month at the Town of Hamilton office at 16 Broad Street in the Village of Hamilton at 6:30 pm. Our next meeting is September 8 at 6:30 pm. We invite and encourage you to join us. For more info visit www.townofhamiltonny.org.
