Policy Overview
Kim Myers believes we can do more to produce energy without damaging the environment. For example:
-Kim Myers supports extension and expansion of clean energy incentives, such as legislation extending the PTC (wind production tax credit) and the ITC (solar investment tax credit).
-Kim Myers supports federal legislation that would establish renewable energy requirements for utilities, with the requirements being that 40% of electricity is produced from clean, renewable energy sources like wind, solar and geothermal by 2035.
- -Kim Myers supports investing in renewable energy to create jobs. The American Council for Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) has said that if the United States were to invest whole-heartedly in energy efficiency, especially new technologies, there could be a net increase of 1.3 to 1.9 million jobs in energy efficiency industries by 2050.
