Autumn is upon us in a matter of weeks and the timing is perfect for enjoying an outdoor craft show, featuring juried crafters, artisans of edible treats, food vendors, and NYS wineries at the Madison County Historical Society’s 52nd Annual Craft Days on Saturday, September 10 (10 am- 5pm) and Sunday, September 11(10 am- 4 pm). Craft Days offers fantastic fall shopping as well as exciting activities such as tours of Cottage Lawn,  live music, kid’s activities, gourmet specialty foods and craft demonstrations. Crafters will be demonstrating their artistry twice each day from 11 am- 12 pm and 1pm- 2 pm. Admission is $4 for adults, children 12 and under are free. Weekend pass is $6.

Craft Days is a craft show for individual artists to create, demonstrate, and sell their original, handmade work.  We have a wide selection of contemporary arts and crafts, ranging from functional to decorative 2-D and 3-D works including fabric, glass, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, metal, glass, floral, drawings, paintings, photography, leather, and wood. The craft artisans are encouraged to demonstrate their craft, “showing how it’s done” as best as they can within their booth space. They are eager to share their creative processes with the public, so attendees are encouraged to ask them questions about their work and enjoy their live art demonstrations.  Crafters are selected for the show through a jurying process. We have added food vendors, entertainment, artisans of edible treats, free children’s activities, and winery sampling to the event- all of which makes for a family fun weekend.

There will be free children’s activities throughout the weekend. Oneida Rail Trail will be back both days with their popular free children’s craft activity of creating a colorful walking stick.Visitors can also tour the society’s headquarters, Cottage Lawn, an 1849 Gothic Revival Cottage, during the event between 12 – 2 p.m. both days. On Saturday from 10 am- 1pm stop by the YMCA of Oneida’s booth for a free activity for kids.

We have a full line up of live entertainment planned throughout the weekend. Musical performances from the New York State Old Tyme Fiddlers Association known as “The Thistle and the Rose” will perform their old time Scottish -Irish music on Saturday from 1-3 pm. On Sunday, Double Chase, led by mother and son, Thelma and Matt Chase will play their appealing folk melodies from 1-3 pm. Double Chase will perform a 9/11 tribute song to remember those whose lives were lost that tragic day and the impact it has had on our country today. Sage Carolla, of Oneida will be performing on Saturday and Sunday from 11:50-12:20.  Storytelling by the Oneida Public Library will be both days.

There will be artists raffles, so be sure to purchase your tickets to win some fantastic handmade craft items.
