COLGATE C-GATEA pair of Colgate men’s soccer players have been honored with Patriot League weekly awards following a big road win at defending MAAC regular-season champion Monmouth Sunday. Senior keeper Ricky Brown earned the league’s Goalkeeper of the Week award, while junior Jared Stroud garnered Midfielder of the Week honors, as announced by the Patriot League Tuesday afternoon.

Brown came up with six big saves to help Colgate to a 3-0 victory against the Hawks. One of those saves came on a penalty kick attempt in the 61st minute as Brown made a diving stop to his right to keep the momentum on the Raiders’ side. The Laguna Hills, Calif. native recorded his third clean sheet of the young season against the Hawks. He also recorded a pair of saves against sixth-ranked Syracuse Thursday to finish the week with eight stops. Brown is now tied for sixth on Colgate’s career shutout list with 12 career clean sheets.

Stroud cemented Colgate’s 3-0 victory at Monmouth Sunday when he scored Colgate’s third goal of the game in the final minute of the contest.  The Chester, N.J. native helped the Raiders out-shoot the Hawks 9-6 and earn their third shutout victory of the season.

Brown, Stroud and the Raiders put their 3-1-0 record on the line Saturday at Siena. Kickoff against the Saints is set for 3 p.m.
