“Double Feature” Play Doubles as Fundraiser

“DOUBLE FEATURE” is a play written by Greg Ellstrom (retired English teacher at Chittenango High School) which spoofs the movie double features of the ’50’s. The first act is entitled “Just Pretend” and
lampoons the romantic musical comedies that featured stars like Doris Day and Rock Hudson. It features original music by Greg Ellstrom and John Spiridigliozzi. The second act, “The Invasion of the Library Creatures from Jupiter,” is a takeoff on the science fiction films of the era.

The proceeds of the play will go toward the Sullivan Free Library Bridgeport Building fund.  The Library plans to add an 840 square foot addition to the existing library in Bridgeport in early 2017.

“Double Feature” will be presented Nov. 2 through 5, 2016, at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Sullivan Free Library’s Chittenango Branch. Tickets for the performances on the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th are $10.

The Friday night performance Nov. 4 is a special gala with door prizes donated by Bridgeport businesses, raffles, hors d’oeuvres, and other surprises. Tickets for this performance are $25 and offer citizens a special opportunity to provide substantial support for the Bridgeport building fund. The CHITTENANGO LIONS CLUB are underwriting the costs of producing the play. “Double Feature” is
suitable for middle-schoolers to very senior citizens!

Tickets are available at either branch of the Sullivan Free Library and at the door at each performance, although space is limited to 75 people per night.
