Madison County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Megan Clark, 23, of Canastota, and charged her with Welfare Fraud in the 4th degree (Class E Felony) and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st degree (Class E Felony).
It is alleged that Clark knowingly presented an application for public assistance that contained false information with the intent to defraud the Madison County Department of Social Services. As a result of Clark’s fraudulent act, she was overpaid $ 1,511.00 in public assistance benefits.
Clark was issued an appearance ticket directing her to appear at the Lenox Town Court Nov. 1, 2016, to answer the charges.
