ColgateRaidersThe Colgate field hockey team celebrated senior day on Saturday afternoon, honoring their six seniors from the Class of 2017. The Raiders fell to the Bucknell Bison, 3-0, in the final game of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Maria Krull (Leicester, Mass.) wrapped up her fantastic season with 12 more saves to bring her final total to 195, good for the seventh most in a single season in program history. With Krull saves, she now made 10 or more in 10 of the Raiders 17 games in 2016.

The Raiders honored seniors Emily Brash (Riverside, Connecticut), Hennie Cabuhay (Morris Plains, New Jersey), Kayla Robinson (Davis, Calif.), Whitney Jones (Sudbury, Mass.), Katie Connors (Manhasset) and Kerry Glenday (Babylon). Jones tallied the Raiders lone shot on goal on the day to give her 33 for the season to lead the team.

M.C. Evans and Nicole Rupnik led Bucknell offensively with a goal and had an assist on Saturday. Anna Wills also chipped in a goal for the Bison.

Wills’ goal came just 4:49 into the first half to give the Bison a 1-0 lead. Off a penalty corner, Amy Mucelli played the ball to her left for Wills on the wing where she fired the ball through traffic into the cage.

The Bison added a second goal 20 minutes later as Rupnik netted her eighth goal of the season. Evans dribbled the ball around a Raider defender and fired a centering feed for Rupnik who redirected the ball into the cage. Rupnik returned the favor with 6:59 left in the second half as she fired a pass from the left wing to Evans who redirected the ball into the goal.

BOTTOM LINE

Bucknell 3, Colgate 0

WON-LOST RECORDS

The Bison improved to 9-8 (3-3 Patriot League) and have qualified for the Patriot League tournament while the Raiders end the season with a 1-16 (0-6 Patriot League) record.

-Krull ends her junior season with 195 saves, the seventh most by a goalkeeper in program history

-Jones led the Raiders in 2016 with two goals and 33 shots on goal
