
The Herkimer Generals have won the NJCAA Women’s Cross-Country Region III Championship Race hosted by MVCC at Proctor Park, Utica.
This day marked history for Herkimer as it is the first time the Generals have won the Regional Championship in the sport.
Herkimer’s Head Coach Steve Sydoriw also earned the honors of 2016 Region III Coach of the Year.
Local athlete and Generals’ top runner Chyanna Bernier (Ilion) placed first in the race which helped her to earn the 2016 Region III Most Valuable Player for Women’s Cross-Country.
Four of the six Herkimer runners finished in the top ten. This accomplishment has earned them a spot on the All-Region Team.

Herkimer Generals Men’s Cross-Country finished fifth out of eight total teams in the Region. The men’s and women’s have qualified to run in the National Championship Race hosted by Finger Lakes Community College Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016. First race begins at 10 a.m.
