Assemblyman Al Stirpe (D-Cicero) was endorsed for re-election today by MIPAC, The Manufacturing & Industry Political Action Committee and the political action committee arm of MACNY, a not-for-profit representing nearly 330 businesses and organizations across Upstate New York.
“Manufacturing jobs are vital to the success of Central New York,” said Stirpe. “I’ve been committed to working with MACNY members to help them succeed and keep Central New York moving forward, so I’m honored to receive their endorsement.”
Stirpe, a tireless advocate for the manufacturing industry, has secured funding and state assistance for local manufacturers, including Byrne Dairy, Stickley and INFICON, to grow and create jobs. He also secured funding for the Advanced Manufacturing Training Program at Onondaga Community College, which recently graduated its first class of students prepared to take on work with manufacturers in need of skilled employees.
“On behalf of MIPAC, I would like to congratulate Assemblyman Stirpe on receiving our endorsement this year,” said Nathan Andrews, MIPAC Chairman & President of Morse Manufacturing. “Over the last two years, Al has been critical in bringing many of our key issues to the forefront, such as workforce development and exporting of New York products. He understands that in order to grow our sector, we need comprehensive policy in place that will support innovation, growth and building a strong workforce.”
MACNY members produce goods for local, national and global markets and employ over 50,000 workers in Central New York. About three-quarters of its members are industrial companies.
