Oneida based state police charged a Verona woman with driving under the influence of drugs following a crash in Verona Friday morning.
At approximately 10:20 a.m. Nov. 4, Trooper Stacy Ferris was dispatched by Oneida County 911 to a one-car personal injury accident on Stoney Brook Road in Verona. The accident investigation showed that Stephanie R. Geer, 48, of Verona, was driving a 2014 Kia Soul eastbound on Stoney Brook Road when she stated she swerved to avoid deer in the roadway.
Geer lost control of her vehicle and exited the south side of the road, striking a ditch. Geer suffered a facial injury in the crash and was transported to Oneida Healthcare by Vineall Ambulance. Geer was evaluated by a state police drug recognition expert and was found to be impaired by the use of prescription medication.
Geer was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, no seat belt and other traffic charges. She is scheduled to appear in Verona Court Nov. 15, 2016. Troopers were assisted at the scene by Verona Fire Department personnel.
