From Nov. 10 through 15, four members of Canastota High School’s FBLA chapter traveled to Daytona Beach, Florida to attend the Future Business Leaders of America National Fall Leadership Conference.
Members attended a kick-off New York State meeting Friday, Nov. 11. Lindsay Bazan, a Canastota High School member who serves as the New York State Vice President for District 7, assisted with the meeting along with other state officers from New York State.
Members also attended two national general sessions on Friday and Saturday evenings where motivational speakers provided dynamic inspirational keynote addresses.
On Friday and Saturday members also attended many informative workshops that were presented throughout the day.
Lindsay Bazan participated in the State Officer Leadership Track while at the conference. This track was open to state officers from each state attending the conference. At the completion of the national conference, New York State members traveled to Orlando to attend the Disney Youth Education Series Program.
YES programs take place in the information-rich setting of the Disney Parks in Florida to give students – and their teachers– a hands-on, educational adventure. This collection of guided field studies, available in Applied Sciences, Environmental Studies, Liberal Arts and Leadership Development, is accredited, standards-based and designed to reinforce classroom lessons.
Students practiced teamwork, critical thinking and problem-solving skills as their groups participated in a one-of-a-kind moment that uses the magic of Disney to make learning even more impactful.
