The renovations to the Canastota Public Library’s Parking Lot entrance are completed. To thank our patrons for their patience during these renovations, the library will be holding a Holiday Open House all day Wednesday, Dec. 7.

Please stop by and see our newly constructed and decorated elevator foyer, enjoy cookies and a holiday cup of cheer! We’ll have music playing and the library will be decked out in holiday attire. At 7 p.m. Dec. 7, join us for an evening of holiday music by The Women of Song, a local Canastota group.

This year, we will again feature our Dolly Parton Imagination Library Giving Tree.

Donations to the DPIL Giving Tree help us to continue to provide this important program to the Canastota community. With the program, every child between birth and 5 years old who enrolls is provided a free age appropriate book each month by the Dolly Parton Foundation. The library must pay for a percentage of each book and shipping to the child’s home.

The cost to the library to provide the program is approximately $30 per child per year. We currently have 314 children in the program with over 250 who have graduated due to the age requirement of the program. Donations from the Giving Tree will help offset our costs for this program.

The Canastota Public Library is located at 102 W. Center Street, Canastota.
