Looking for a way to extend the holiday recess? Friends of Rogers can help! On January 2, children ages 7-10 have the opportunity to embrace winter at Rogers Environmental Education Center in Sherburne.

During “Winterlude,” participants will get better acquainted with Mother Nature and Jack Frost through activities, crafts, games, and snacks – all inspired by the snowiest season of the year.

“We are looking forward to this ‘bonus day’ of school break,” said Sarah Freedman, Friends of Rogers environmental educator. “There are plenty of exciting ways to enjoy the outdoors during winter, and we plan to have as much fun as possible!”

Early bird registration made by Dec. 23 is $28 for members and $33 for non-yet-members, and discounts are available for multi-day and multi-child registrations. The fee increases to $30 for members and $35 for not-yet-members after Dec. 23. Also available are activities before (8-9 a.m.) and after (4-5:30 p.m.) for an additional $7.50 per session, per child.

“We are delighted to host another exciting opportunity for area youth,” said Simon Solomon, Friends of Rogers executive director. “We are extremely grateful to Parry’s in Hamilton for partnering with us. We rely on the generosity of local businesses to support our unique program offerings. Thanks to sponsors like Parry’s, we are able to continue providing fun and engaging alternatives to sedentary winter activities.”

Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for people of all ages. Seasonal hours are from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Friends of Rogers Executive Director Simon Solomon is available for interviews by calling (607) 674-4733.

The mission of the Friends of Rogers is to provide outstanding educational opportunities that excite, inspire, and motivate people of all ages to enjoy, understand, appreciate and protect our natural environment.
