The Morrisville State College athletics department has announced its weekly award winners, naming senior Jordan Anderson (West Edmeston) and freshman Kevin Dennis (Bronx) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending Dec. 4.
Anderson led the women’s basketball team to a 2-0 week within conference play, as Morrisville State topped Keuka College and Cazenovia College behind her two game combined totals of 38 points, 12 rebounds, 16 assists, and 12 steals; shooting 50% from the floor and 93.3% from the free throw line.
In the win over Keuka, Anderson posted 16 points while shooting 6-of-7 free throws, adding eight assists and seven steals to her tallies. She followed that performance with a 22 point outing in the win over Cazenovia on Saturday, hitting all eight attempts from the charity stripe, and registering nine rebounds, eight assists and five steals in the near triple double.
The senior currently ranks second in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) in assists and is second in steals, while ranking second in free throws made.
A graduate of Unadilla Valley High, Anderson is majoring in human performance and health promotion at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Wendy and Steve Anderson of West Edmeston.
Dennis, forward for the men’s basketball team, paced Morrisville State to a 2-0 week within conference play as well, as the Mustangs picked up NEAC wins over Keuka and Cazenovia Colleges.
The freshman combined for 33 points, 22 rebounds and three blocked shots across two games on the week, netting a week high 22 points and 12 rebounds in the victory over Keuka College midweek. Dennis controlled the offensive glass over the Wolves with seven put back opportunities, while registering three blocked shots.
He wrapped up the week with an 11 point, 10 rebound performance in the win over Cazenovia on Saturday, again dominating the offensive glass with five, as he picked up his fifth double-double performance of the season.
Dennis currently ranks second in the NEAC in field goals made, is first in rebounds, offensive rebounds, and rebounds per game. He ranks second overall in total points scored.
A graduate of Harry S. Truman High, Dennis is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. He is the son of Monique Dennis of the Bronx.
