The Hamilton school district is one of just five Central New York schools to make an exclusive list of the top 100 districts in New York state.

Niche Inc., released its 2017 Best School Districts in New York list in early December, and Hamilton was ranked at 90. Niche is a national company that annually ranks colleges, schools, communities and neighborhoods across the country. This year’s analysis examined 670 school districts in New York state.

“We are pleased to be recognized as one of the top districts in New York and for an outside agency to reaffirm that we offer a high-quality education and extracurricular experiences to meet the needs of all students,” Superintendent Dr. Anael Alston said.

Nationally, Niche Inc. assesses more than 10,000 public school districts across the United States and grades them in academics, standardized assessments, culture and diversity, health and safety, teachers, facilities, extracurricular activities, sports and parent/student survey results on their overall experience in the district.

Hamilton’s grades include an A for health and safety, an A- for food, and an A+ for academics, teachers, college readiness and administration. Hamilton has an average SAT score of 1220 and an average graduation rate of 90 percent, with the class of 2016 most recently boasting a 100-percent graduation rate.
