Colgate women’s lacrosse head coach Heather Young has announced the 2017 schedule featuring eight home games at Beyer-Small ’76 Field.
The Raiders will face a challenging schedule with teams from five different conferences, including a trip to Fresno State for Colgate’s first trip to California since 2009.
“We are excited that our schedule includes teams from the America East, MAAC, Ivy League & Mountain Pacific,” Young said. “These non-conference match-ups will help to prepare us for our increasingly competitive conference schedule.”
Colgate opens up the schedule with three home games in the first week of the season, hosting Vermont on Feb. 18, Binghamton on Feb. 22 and Siena on Feb. 25.
The Raiders open up a three-game road trip on Feb. 28 at Niagara before traveling to Cornell on March 7 and Fresno State on March 12. Colgate’s trip to Fresno State is the first meeting between the two teams. It is also Colgate’s first game in California since facing UC Davis and St. Mary’s in 2009 as well as a trip to the University of Oregon that same season.
“We had great competition this Fall season and have high expectations for the season. With pre-season only a few weeks away we are looking forward to getting back on campus to continue working towards being the top in the Patriot League.”
Colgate returns home on March 18th for its first Patriot League home game and to start a stretch of eight straight conference games. The Raiders host American on March 18 and Lafayette on March 25 before back-to-back road games at Boston University on March 29 and at reigning regular season and tournament champion Loyola on April 1 on the American Sports Network.
In the final five games of the season, Colgate alternates home and road games before closing on the regular season on April 29 against Holy Cross.
Colgate on Television
The Colgate women’s lacrosse team will have one game featured on the American Sports Network (ASN) when it travels to defending Patriot League champion Loyola on April 1. It will be the Raiders first game on television since the 2011 season.
Colgate is looking for its first win against Loyola as they will meet for the sixth time in program history and fourth since the Greyhounds joined the Patriot League.
