Oneida Public Library

Registration is underway at Oneida Public Library for the upcoming mixed-media art workshop, “Branching Out: Acrylics + Watercolors = Prints,” a free adult art class taught by artist and teacher Carol Cotten and starting Wednesday, April 19, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. for the first of five weekly sessions.

Cotten will introduce adult students to print-making techniques that involve acrylic paint and watercolors along with the use of brayers and the preparation  of surfaces.

Cotten, who retired from teaching art in the Camden Central School District in 2004, has been conducting art workshops for children and adults at the OPL and other places in the region for many years. She has exhibited her own art, especially her watercolors, at many small regional galleries and libraries, including the OPL.

The class, limited to 20 adults, will meet Wednesday mornings 9:30-11:30 a.m.on April 19 and 26 as well as May 3, 10 and 17. Those interested can register at the check-out desk of the library, 220 Broad St., or call 315-363-3050

Students should dress in old clothes or bring aprons or smocks for the classes and bring with them their own watercolors and brushes. Acrylics, paper and brayers will be provided.
