Morrisville State College head football coach Curt Fitzpatrick, has announced the addition of Ed Raby, Jr. to the Mustang coaching staff beginning with the spring 2017 season. Raby will serve as the defensive coordinator for the Mustangs.

Raby comes to Morrisville State from Allegheny College where he served in various roles for the past three seasons, including three on the defensive side of the ball as the defensive line coach in 2014 and 2016, as well as the linebackers coach in 2015.

This past season, Raby moved to the offensive side of the ball, serving as the offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator, as well as assistant strength and conditioning coach.

During his time with the Gators as defensive line coach, Raby’s squad had a 15 tackle for a loss and seven sack increase over a season’s time, and had coached All-NCAC honorable mention linebacker Nick Murgo, who ranked third overall in league play in tackles per game.

Raby, who also saw time as the special team’s coordinator in 2015, coached All-NCAC kick returner Jake Wilson, who broke the single-season NCAA record for most return yards.

Prior to his stint with the Gators, Raby served on the coaching staff at Alfred University as the defensive line coach and tight ends coach, also serving as the junior varsity offensive coordinator in 2013.

His efforts with the Saxons led to a 10-4 Empire 8 record, three all-conference selections, and a D3football.com All-Region and All-American selection on the defensive line.

“We are very excited have Coach Raby as a new member of the Mustang football family,” Fitzpatrick stated.

“His passion for helping student-athletes stood out in the search process. Ed is a terrific communicator and has tremendous presence for a young football coach. He also brings plenty of experience recruiting in New York and has established relationships with some of the great high school coaches in our state.”

Raby earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Alma College where he was a four-year letter winner and three year starter on the offensive line. He completed his masters of business administration degree from Alfred University in 2014.

A member of the American Football Coaches Association, Raby serves as a member of the AFCA Convention Services Committee.

Raby will also serve as the academic coordinator for the Mustangs.

“I am looking forward to our future as a program with Coach Raby leading our defensive unit on and off the field,” Fitzpatrick said.
