The Central New York Citizens in Action, Inc. is sponsoring two Earth Day activities this Saturday, April 22 – the March for Science and the Rally for the Earth.

The March for Science will take place at 4 p.m. at the Oneida Square Roundabout in Utica.  The purpose of the march is to show support for evidence-based policymaking, government funding for scientific research, transparency, and acceptance of the scientific consensus on climate change.

The Rally for Earth, which will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the DeSales Center, 309 Genesee Street,  will feature discussions, live music, potluck, and exhibits.  The event organizers are seeking speakers, musicians, and exhibitors for Earth-friendly services and products (e.g., organic foods, cleaning products, recycling, CSAs, nutrition, etc.).

The Rally for the Earth will address the proposed massive cuts to the Environmental Protection Agency, possible withdrawal of the U.S. from the Paris Climate Change Agreement, the threat posed by oil trains in Upstate New York, and New York Renew climate legislation.

There is no charge for exhibitors.  In case of rain, the March will take place at the DeSales Center.   The event is free and open to the public.   Please 315-725-0974 or cnycitizenaction@gmail.com for more information.
