Women have the right to vote, but they didn’t always. They had to fight for it.
The story of that struggle will be featured From May 8 through June 20 at the New Woodstock Free Library in an educational, multi-faceted exhibit chronicling the Women’s Suffrage Movement in America.
The cultural and historical backdrop of the Movement will frame the people, places and politics that defined the times and ignited a flame that has burned brightly through decades of progress toward equal rights and social justice for women.
Members of the library exhibits committee and library staff have planned and curated the exhibit. Leaders of the project are Traci Schuster, Nancy Edwards and Gwen Pierre.
A formal opening for the exhibit will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 20. The exhibit is free and open to the public during all regular library hours.
Also at the library: “Maker Mondays,” do it yourself crafts for children and families, every Monday during regular library hours; Movie Night, Friday May 19 at 7 p.m. and Book Group Tuesday, May 16 at 7 p.m.
