Chris Martin, regional press secretary, National Republican Congressional Committee, issued the following statement Thursday, May 4, on action taken yesterday to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

“This afternoon, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney kept her word to the American people by voting to pass the American Health Care Act.

“In doing so…

  • “Americans will have access to high-quality, affordable health care options.
  • “Patients with pre-existing conditions will be protected from higher costs and coverage denial.
  • “Young adults will be able to remain on their parent’s plan until they turn 26.
  • “$9.8 billion in regulatory burdens will be dismantled and more than 72 million paperwork hours will be saved.

“Under Obamacare, millions of Americans were forced to endure skyrocketing premiums, higher taxes, and fewer health care options. Republicans kept their promise to get government out of the way and provide consumers the freedom to choose the plan that best fits their needs.”
