The hamlet of Peterboro will host their annual “Hometown Day” Festival with a wide variety of events beginning Sunday at 10 a.m on July 23.
The village green will be the center of the day’s activities that will include a variety of exhibitors, local vendors, crafters and games. The CNY Antique tractor club, as well as local residents, will have tractors and other machinery on display. There is also a car cruise in so “cruise in” and show off your special vehicle. The kids will enjoy the “Fire Truck Slide”, games, a bike rodeo and 4H animals.
At noon, the Smithfield Fire Department will host their famous chicken BBQ and there will be drawings to benefit the fire department throughout the day. Peterboro’s own Deli on the Green will be serving great food all day. The day caps off at 4:30 p.m. with entertainment by Old Clay Stone and a homemade pie and ice cream social sponsored by the Peterboro United Methodist Church.
The residents of Peterboro – a small town with a big history – invite you to share in the unique aspects and history of their town. Places of historical significance are the Gerrit Smith Estate National Historic Landmark and NY Underground Railroad Site, the National Abolitionists Hall of Fame and the Peterboro Area Museum.
