Former Standout Colgate Shooting Guard Added to Staff

Colgate men’s basketball head coach Matt Langel has announced the appointment of Pat Moore ’15 to the Director of Basketball Operations post. Moore replaces Pete Durr, who recently accepted a similar position at Siena.

“We are thrilled to have Patrick back on campus as part of our day-to-day operations,” said Langel. “After five great years as an exemplary student-athlete in which he helped me immeasurably as a young head coach, I am confident that Pat will have a similar impact on our current and future student-athletes.  He knows first hand what it takes to be successful in the classroom, on the court, and in the community here in Hamilton.  His maturity, experiences and understanding will be invaluable to our continued efforts to be the best program we can be.”

Moore spent the last two seasons as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at local Morrisville State College. He helped lead the 2016-17 team to an NEAC Championship and NCAA Appearance as the Mustangs finished the season with a 22-7 record. Moore identified and recruited Morrisville standout Kevin Dennis, who was named the 2016-17 NEAC Rookie of the Year, the D3Hoops East Region Rookie of the Year, ECAC Sports North Rookie of the Year and HERO Sports D3 Newcomer of the Year.

Prior to the Mustang’s 2016-17 conference title, Moore guided the 2015-16 team to a 19-8 record and an NEAC championship game appearance. While at Morrisville, Moore was responsible for game day preparation, opponent scouting, evaluating and recruiting prospective student-athletes and assisting in the supervision of the players’ academics.

Moore spent five seasons (2010-15) as a student-athlete in the Maroon and White. A three-year starting shooting guard and two-time team captain, he stands second all-time in Colgate history in career three-point percentage (40.6%) and fifth in career three-point field goals made (188).

Moore helped change the culture of the Raiders by increasing win totals in each of his years as a student-athlete. He led Colgate to its best season since 1996 and a program-record number of Patriot League wins as a senior in 2014-15. Moore finished his career with 923 points. Strong off the court as well, the History and Sociology/Anthropology double major earned Dean’s List distinction and Patriot League Academic Honor Roll status twice during his Colgate career.

Moore has also served as a Mohawk Valley Elite AAU head coach and camp counselor for the New York Knicks basketball camp. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Sport Management at SUNY Cortland.
