On Aug. 14, 2017, State Police in Morrisville responded to a residence located in the Town of Madison for a reported sex offense in progress. When Troopers arrived, they were advised that Jason P. Edwards was caught on video sexually abusing a child under the age of 8 years old. Edwards was taken into custody after the troopers reviewed the video and determined that a crime was in fact committed against the child.
Jason P. Edwards, age 28, from Remsen, was charged with (1) count of Sexual Abuse 1st degree (D-Felony) and (1) count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (A- Misdemeanor). He was arraigned in the Town of Madison Court by Judge Michael Hynes and remanded to the Madison Co Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail/$50,000.00 bond. A felony hearing is scheduled for August 21, 2017 at 10:00 am.
