Herkimer College will hold a Sept. 11 remembrance event from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, in the Robert McLaughlin College Center Amphitheater (room 288).
The event will begin with a panel discussion from 6 to 6:30 p.m. The panel will be comprised of local first responders, elected officials, and educators, as well as representatives of the College’s teaching faculty and student body. The panel will focus on the questions of why it is important to continue to hold events in observance of Sept. 11, and how to maintain the relevance of those observances for successive generations.
At 6:30 p.m., there will be a showing of the Emmy and Peabody Award winning film 9/11, by Jules and Gedeon Naudet, two French brothers who were making a film about becoming a New York City firefighter and ended up recording a chilling record of the terrorist attack of the World Trade Center. The film contains strong language and graphic images.
