Troopers issue correction on weight of marijuana: 4.1 pounds
On October 17, 2017, State Police in Watertown arrested, Justin D. Rourke, age 37 from Hogansburg, NY, for Criminal Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, a class “D” felony.
The investigation revealed that on October 17, 2017, State Police stopped a vehicle on Interstate 81 in the Town of Pamelia for speeding (93 mph in a 65-mph zone). During a conversation with the driver, the Trooper detected a strong odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle. A consent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a gym bag containing 4.1 pounds of marijuana. During the traffic stop, it was determined that the driver, identified as Justin D. Rourke was also wanted on an active warrant from Franklin County. Rourke was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, a class D Felony.
Rourke was arraigned in the Town of Pamelia Court and remanded to Jefferson County Correctional Facility in lieu $5000 cash/ $10,000 bond, awaiting further court actions.
