The 2017 New York State FBLA District 7 Fall Conference was held at Herkimer County BOCES Friday, Oct. 20. Twelve Canastota High School members and two middle-level members attended along with more than 100 other members from throughout Madison, Oneida and Herkimer counties.

Eight workshops were presented to the membership in attendance on topics such as careers, what employers look for, professional image, the college admissions process and resume-building.

Several professionals from the area presented workshops to the membership. Canastota members Emily Case, Matthew McDermott and Lucas Barnello served as workshop presenters, presenting “FBLA 411” and “The New York State Program of Work” to the membership.

The following FBLA members were chosen to serve as FBLA District 7 officers: District Reporter – Emily Case, District Historian – April Dabrowski, District Secretary – Matthew McDermott and Madison County District Representative – Lucas Barnello.

McDermott finished in third place in the Battle of the Chapters competition.

Five members will be attending the National Fall Leadership Conference in November being held
in Buffalo.
