Balog to pursue career in continuing education

The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association will soon have a new executive director in Utica. Current executive director Jennifer Balog announced Friday she is stepping down. Balog is leaving the Association to pursue a continuing education.

“Over the past four years, I have worked with such dedicated volunteers with a true passion for the mission and worked with such a talented staff,” said Balog. “Together, this community’s efforts have made a tremendous impact on our fight against heart disease and stroke, which I am certain will continue.”

In her four years with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, Balog has made significant contributions to the advancement of the Association’s mission in the community, including growing the Community Impact Grant program to fund local projects improving the health of the Greater Utica area, an increased focus on lifesaving Hands-Only CPR trainings and revitalizing America’s Greatest Heart Run & Walk Weekend.

“Jennifer has been an extraordinary leader to our volunteers and our staff,” said Liz Campbell, Senior Vice President, Western Region of the Founders Affiliate. “Hers will be very difficult shoes to fill.”

Balog’s resignation will take effect Nov. 17.
