The Oneida Community Mansion House Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Christine O’Neil as Executive Director of the non-profit organization.  She replaces Patricia A. Hoffman, who was named Interim Director in June.

O’Neil has served as Executive Director of the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum for the past six years and currently serves on the board of Madison County Tourism. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in the History of Art from Cornell University and resides in Fayetteville.

“We believe Christine has the experience and skills necessary to oversee this complex organization,” said Jonathan Pawlika, OCMH chair.  “And her knowledge of the region and its funding sources are invaluable,” he added.  “We look forward to working with her.”

The Oneida Community Mansion House was built in stages between 1861 and 1914 as the residence of the 19th century utopian Oneida Community (1848 – 1880).  Today, the 93,000 square foot brick building houses a museum, residential apartments, overnight lodging, and banquet and meeting space. Two hundred acres of historic trees and landscaped lawns and gardens include Sunset Lake and the country’s first corporate golf course.

The non-profit Oneida Community Mansion House is a National Historic Landmark chartered by the New York State Department of Education. The Mansion House is open for visitors Monday through Saturday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm, and Sunday from Noon until 5:00 pm. Guided tours are provided by appointment between December-March.
