‘Nature’s Nursery’ will host an inaugural “Open Play Day” Jan. 27, when young children and grown-ups can explore Roger Environmental Education Center’s early childhood learning space.

A unique pre-school program designed to cultivate outdoor exploration, ‘Nature’s Nursery’ has been in residence with Friends of Rogers for nearly three years. Throughout each academic year, classes are in session from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on select Friday mornings. Coordinator Jenni Larchar leads young explorers in a variety of fun and engaging educational activities.

“Our goals is to nurture a love of nature and encourage curiosity,” Larchar said. “This ‘Nature’s Nursery’
weekend experience gives families an opportunity to enjoy our fenced playscape, including a tot-sized sledding hill!”

“We are excited to offer this extended ‘Nature’s Nursery’ program,” said Simon Solomon, Friends of Rogers executive director. “Activities like this allow us to fulfill of our mission in a dynamic way.”

“Open Play Day” will take place from 11 am to 1 pm in the Visitor Center at Rogers Environmental Education Center, just off state Route 80 in Sherburne. As with all ‘Nature’s Nursery’ activities, participants are encouraged to dress for the possibility of outdoor play. Early pre-registration is highly encouraged; admission is $6 for families who are Friends of Rogers members and $8 for those families who are not-yet members.

Rogers Center is operated by Friends of Rogers Environmental Education Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization that offers educational programs for people of all ages. Seasonal hours are from 10 am to 4:30 pm Wednesday through Saturday, and from 11 am to 3 pm on Sunday.
