Kallet gallery to feature work of Henry-Rahn
The Griffing Gallery of the Kallet Civic Center will have the artwork of local artist, Ric Henry-Rahn on display during the month of March, 2018. This will be the first solo show for the artist. Henry-Rahn holds a degree in Psychology from Utica College, has earned the professional accreditation of CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Counselor), and works in that capacity for various agencies in the central New York state area. She credits her passion for painting to her friend and instructor, Catherine Bennett, who is, herself, an accomplished watercolorist and collage artist.
Ric Henry- Rahn mainly works in watercolor, but occasionally creates pieces using acrylics and colored pencils. Most of her work portrays natural scenes, animals, and aging architectural structures. She has stated that she ” strives in both her life and work to seek love, peace, gentleness, and beauty”. Her work reflects those emotions while also capturing empathy for loneliness and sadness, at times. Her original imagery embodies the experiences she has encountered during her journey through life. Viewers will note that the artist incorporates a small commercially available “sticker” image into each unique composition. Henry-Rahn says that she first began doing this for two reasons: the first being for “whimsy”, the other, just for the pure fun of it. Now she includes the sticker image as her personal artist’s “mark”.
The public is cordially invited to meet artist, Ric Henry-Rahn, and view her first solo exhibit in the Griffing Gallery on Sunday, March 4th, 2018, from 2 – 4 p.m.
