Brindisi helps boost Stevens-Swan Humane Society with $10,000 state grant during annual telethon
Funding will be used for emergency repairs to animal shelter’s dog kennel
Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi has awarded the Stevens-Swan Humane Society a $10,000 grant to help the organization make badly needed repairs to its dog kennel area. Brindisi presented organization representatives with a ceremonial check during its annual fund-raising telethon today in Utica.
“Stevens Swan has a long history of providing vital services to our community, from housing lost or stray pets, to providing information to pet owners,” said Brindisi. The capital repairs the organization needed are truly essential to the survival of the shelter, and to the animals it houses in this area. Our pets are important members of our families, and Stevens Swan does so much in our community to protect them. I am pleased to provide state funding that will help this organization continue its mission and programs in our area.”
“We are extremely appreciative to Assemblyman Brindisi for coming to our aid in an emergency situation in our dog kennel area,” said Diane Broccoli, executive director, Stevens-Swan Humane Society. “The roof was leaking in various sections, affecting the housing of our dogs, and they had to be moved immediately. As a non-profit agency with a no-kill mission, we face extremely high animal care costs, and when building repairs are needed, we do not always have the funds available. We greatly appreciate this grant, to help keep the thousands of animals that come through our doors sheltered and warm in a safe environment.”
