Library to Host an Evening of Music with The Cadleys

The Cazenovia Public Library invites music enthusiasts of all ages to the Community Room on Friday, April 6 at 7:00 pm for a performance by the renowned male-female duo The Cadleys.

The Cadleys are one of the most popular and entertaining acoustic bands in the northeast. Using two voices and two instruments, John and Cathy seamlessly combine stunning duet harmonies with a smooth acoustic sound. Their performances feature a mixture of bluegrass, folk, country, and original music. In this special live concert, the couple will be joined by bassist John Dancks—a member of the Syracuse Area Music Hall of Fame—and Perry Cleaveland—one of the most in-demand mandolin players in Upstate New York.

Cazenovia Public Library to Host Interactive Junior Book Club

“The Wild and Wonderful Readers” junior book club will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, April 3 at 3:30 pm in the Cazenovia Public Library Story Garden Room. The session will combine book discussion, games, and hands-on creative activities. The group will discuss The War that Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley. The 2015 historical fiction novel was a Newbery Honor Book and the winner of the 2016 Scneider Family Book Award.

Ten-year-old Ada has spent her entire life confined to a one room apartment. Her mother is too humiliated by Ada’s twisted foot to let her outside their home. When her little brother is shipped out of London during WWII, Ada escapes to join him in the country. A woman named Susan Smith reluctantly takes the children into her home. Eventually, Ada learns to trust her new caregiver—and Susan begins to love the children she was forced to look after. Will their bond be strong enough to keep the new family together, or will Ada and her brother be forced to return to her cruel mother?

The junior book club is open to children ages 9-12. Books are available at the circulation desk.

Cazenovia Public Library To Host Sensory Story Time

The Cazenovia Public Library invites children and their families to the Story Garden Room on Monday, April 2 at 9:30 am for Stories for All: Sensory Story Time. This monthly program is specially designed for children ages two and older, including those with autism spectrum disorders, sensory integration issues, and other developmental disabilities.

Like traditional story time sessions, Sensory Story Time features songs, rhymes, and books. Unlike other sessions, these programs include a visual schedule, involve fewer tasks, and offer a safe space for children who struggle to sit still or engage in unusual behaviors.

LEGO Building Session at the Cazenovia Public Library

The Cazenovia Public Library invites children ages 5 and up to the Community Room on Monday, April 2 at 3:30 pm for the chance to channel their inner architect and get building! Children’s Programming Coordinator Jenna Wright Martin will lead “LEGO My Library,” a fun, hands-on program for young builders. Participants will have access to the Library’s vast collection of LEGO construction toys. The program will feature a LEGO egg racers challenge and time for creative construction.

The library is a place of imagination and discovery. Programs like “LEGO My Library” allow children to socialize, be creative, and see their imaginings come to life. Construction toys offer significant educational benefits to children of all ages. Not only is hands-on play fun and exciting, but it also helps to develop motor and spatial skills, ingenuity, critical thinking, social and language proficiencies, and more!
