Girl Scouts invite alums to special event in Cazenovia on May 11

National Alum Network launched on LinkedIn

Did you plan sock hops with your troop in the ’50s? Sell cookies and wear tie-dye in the ’60s? Camp and cookout in the ’70s? Rock big hair with your badges in the ’80s? AOL Instant Message your camp buddies in the ’90s? Swap Silly Bandz at your troop meetings in the 2000s?

If you shared in the Girl Scout movement for any length of time during your youth, you’re an alum. Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways invites alums from every decade and any council to reconnect, reminisce and renew the ties that bind Girl Scouts together in sisterhood at a Scottish High Tea from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 11, at the Lincklaen House, 79 Albany St., Cazenovia.

The cost is $25 per person, and registration is required.

GSNYPENN is actively looking to connect with local alums through a series of special events to celebrate and discuss how they can support the Girl Scout mission today and into the future. Council staff also will share updates about camps, projects and programs.

Registration deadline is May 1; cost includes a plated dinner and dessert.

For more information or to register, visit gsnypenn.org/gstea or contact Development Director JoAnne Morak at 315.698.9400 x2052 or jmorak@gsnypenn.org.

For the first time ever, all Girl Scout alums can now come together to support female advancement in the workforce and help prepare girls for a lifetime of leadership and career success by joining the national Girl Scout Network on LinkedIn at  girlscouts.org/GirlScoutNetwork.

Girl Scouts of the USA and LinkedIn recently launched the network to support equal opportunity in the workplace and allow the movement’s more than 50 million alums to connect with one another to enhance their career development.

The collaboration marks the first time GSUSA will have the ability to track life experiences and successes of alums using LinkedIn’s community of more than 546 million members. The network also provides a place for employers and human resource professionals to recruit women who possess skills crucial to career success.
