OPL’s free May 7 Movie Matinee features ‘The Greatest Showman’

Oneida Public Library will be showing “The Greatest Showman” with Hugh Jackman as P. T. Barnum  and Michelle Williams as his wife on Monday, May 7, at 1 p.m.

Directed by Michael Gracey, this popular 2017 film is a Bollywood-style musical with Jackman singing and dancing up a storm as Barnum, rising from poverty to become the greatest showman on two continents.

Coming up on the OPL’s Monday Matinee, May 21, is a far more serious film, “Phantom Thread,” starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Leslie Manville and Vicky Krieps. Set in fashionable circles of 1950s London, the film directed by Paul Thomas Anderson traces the affair of a highly successful haute couture designer played by Day-Lewis and the waitress who becomes his muse, most glamorous model and lover.

All Monday Movie Matinee shows at the OPL, along with light refreshments, are free and open to the public. For more information, stop by the Oneida Library, 220 Broad St., or call (315) 363-3050.
